August Allure Issue

This month's issue of Allure featured Rachel Mcadams with the most natural look. How beautiful is she? Along with her amazing cover was a headline for a bunch of free items! (I glanced at them)
Some of the things I loved in this issue was this Pamella Roland dress. I love the rich color. It is definetly a "lust" item. Maybe I will be able to find some detail or similiar colored items at a more affordable price.
All hail bright bold colors! I live right next to water at school, and these "Ocean Blues" have me excited! I may not paint my finger nails, but these will be going on my toesies.
Last but not least is this diagram of my style.. Yes- skinny jeans, simple flip flops or flats, a tshirt and my Longchamp( I don't own any large Vera totes)

Things I like about Tuesday

Well here's a secret, I went to the gym yesterday and really didn't have a good workout. I go back to school soon, and honestly can't wait to get back to a really trained regimen. So instead I decided to write about things I am already liking this morning:

1. The fact it is only in the 70's (it's usually about 90 plus degrees out)
2. My drawing/painting is coming along.
3. I am feeling a little bit better
4. I put myself back on an eating schedule for today, and the coming weeks.  Eating every three hours
5. Karma, karma is god.

A Little Lipstick Goes a Long Way

So yesterday I worked out-(my workout wrap-up of excercises will be included in tomorrow's post.)

...and today I put on a full face of makeup. Now, to let you all know, I am an athletic girl. I am a natural girl, honestly most of the time I just throw my hair in a ponytail in the morning. My sister is really into makeup, and incredibly talented at putting together a great look. So today since I was incredibly bored I decided to do my makeup.

I had been discussing what I wanted to be for my last "college Halloween" with a friend, and I thought that a pinup girl would be a great idea. Pinup models always makeup seem to rock a  flawless and classic look.

When I do my makeup I usually keep it pretty simple. I use a brown shimmery eye, a nude lip, and foundation, add a little mascara and I'm done. Though I will probably need a little practice on how to do pinup style makeup, I started with a little bit more than what I usually wear. Today  I decided to do a light base, a dark shade on top, contoured with purple and dark brown. I then added mascara and a thin coat of eyeliner on my water line.My makeup guru aka my twin is actually jealous I can do this! My favorite part was my bright pink lip! I posted the pic on my personal instagram! (Feel free to follow me, I don't mind!)

I think that lip shade really makes a difference in a look. Some may say eyes, or bronser helps, but dang what woman doesn't look good in red lipstick?!. The makeup that I do buy (recommendations mostly from the twin) is from CVS, or Walmart. You can find great products without breaking the bank for sure.
Here are some lip colors that I love, or am willing to try:

Affordable:
Pin Up Peach-Maybeline
Cover Girl- Kiss 274 avai lable at Walmart

Lust:
Bare Minerals- Light it Up (website)
Chanel COCO Shine

For now I am going to keep experimenting with simple makeup ideas to get started, but am hoping I can rock a great pinup style for my last Halloween!

My Wednesday Workout

Here's a summary of my Wednesday workout, and a trick I learned to protect my back and knees! (Hint hint: It's common sense!) I am also going to post videos sometimes for things some people may not have heard of. *All videos are from Youtube

WEIGHT TRAINING SUMMARY
- 3 sets of dumbbell front raise 8 times.
- 3 sets of flies with 10lb dumbbells 8 times
- 3 sets of bicep curls with 10lb dumbbells 8 times
- 4-5 sets of overhead press with an EZ bar 8-10 times ( here is a Youtube video of the overhead press but without the EZ bar Overhead Press)
* The reason I like the EZ bar is because it is EASY to do just about every workout with the bar. I like it because I have a good grip on the bar. You can do bicep curls, triceps exercises and other extensions of arm workouts with this bar.

- about 8 pullups.. definitely still working on those. I was getting really good at them while in school, but haven't worked on them since. I definitely have to make sure that I use proper form so that I am using the correct muscles.

SQUAT SUMMARY

As mentioned in prior workout entries, I injured my back. WELLLLL, it is now feeling a lot better! Thanks to my chiropractor, rest, and stretching my back is almost back to normal. I talked to the trainer/owner of the gym about how to feel safe other than wearing a belt. He simply put a bench underneath where I stood so that every time I squatted down I would hit the bench and could go no farther. SUCH RELIEF.
Today I squatted 75 lb 3 reps of 8

Sooooo in summary,
I love the EZ bar, and squats, squats, squats.

This months Glamour Mag

I seriously have a thing for magazines. Glamour has been one of my favs for a while now. Katie Holmes graced the cover in denim on denim.

I am a sucker for great blue jeans! This issue featured some great looks..

Patchwork jeans are so fun.
I love this tailored look as well. Though I don't tailor my jeans, I do try to find jeans that fit me best. So far Jessica Simpson skinny jeans have been it. Her add for her ever growing fashion line was featured in this issue!

I also loved reading the advice by some very hard working women who aren't afraid to wear jeans to work.
In short, it's all about the shoes, keeping it simple, and dressing up tshirts.

Is anyone else glad that Glamour featured ponytails as "in" right now. Thanking God for the athlete in me.

As for Music Monday skippage yesterday, I've been rocking out to this lately.

The Ever Classic Pencil Skirt

I have owned a few pencil skirts, both black. Pencil skirts are a lifesaver. I love the way they accent my curves. I am a really petite person, so when I find anything that makes me look a little more shapely I love to wear them. Pencil skirts are so great because you can dress them up, dress them down, wear heels, flats or wedges, and they are truly for EVERY body type. I also like to dress a little bit more conservative when I am in a professional environment(and I soon will be in one forever), so a pencil skirt is the perfect length.

I scanned Pinterest for some great examples, because while in the dentist office this morning I saw a GREAT fuchsia one that was a little longer in length than a normal pencil skirt, also sat higher on the waist. It still looked FABULOUS and classy, even though it was a bright and bold color.

Here are my Pinterest picks

Asos Color Blocked Pencil Skirt
This skirt is so FUN! Simple and sophisticated, pair with a neutral top to keep the focus balanced.

Jibri High Waisted Plus Size Pencil Skirt-Purple
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS COLOR COMBO. The purple color with the mustard accent on the blouse is beautiful.

Navy Pencil Skirt- Old Navy
Not only is Old Navy affordable, it is fashionable! Check this look out that incorporated flat shoes! What a lifesaver this option is!

I know that I will make sure to incorporate more inexpensive pencil skirts into my wardrobe once I graduate.

My Wednesday workout

Hey everyone! Wednesdays I am going to post my workouts, how they went, or something fitness related. So today I decided I wanted to do biceps and shoulders. I did legs on Monday, and started doing easy squats so that my hips and back could rest. I cranked it up a notch today
Instead of 5 times I did three sets of 12,10,8 or four sets of 12,10,8. It was super fun to me! I love using the Ez bar because it's good for grip. Instead of burpees I did thirty pushups at the end. I have to admit I had to stop at twenty and then keep going. The important part is I didn't quit.

On my brain lately has been research for new shoes to work lut in. Where I workout in MI the gym is sponsored by RBK and I have heard nothing but rave reviews... But I am such a sucked for Nike. I am definegly going to narrow it down soon before I go back to school.

Readers- if there are any lf you -- I mad it through Hump day--

#MusicMonday AKA MOTIVATION MONDAY

Well hey there blogging world. Today (well tonight I should say) is #MusicMonday!
For my #MusicMonday I chose - Katy Perry's song "Roar"-Listen to it here.

Blogging is supposed to be honest right? Well lately, I have been FREAKING quite honestly about what is going to happen after school.I think it is def a reoccurring thought for every soon to be college grad, and the process of figuring it out is part of why I started blogging(thank New Media Literacy!) So to ease some impeding thought, before my workout today I turned on my ItunesRadio in order to get going this morning- well afternoon. Katy Perry blasted through my little speakers. There was something about such an empowering song. After my ever so progressive workout( thanks back injury) I decided to make a list of all the things I am interested in, even if I think they are dumb or irrelevant. Maybe this will help me out!

- Shoes
- Children
-Leadership
-Coaching
-Clothes
-Food
-Journallism
-Magazines
-Music
-Marketing
-Charity events
-Concerts
-Hats(yes I literally just wrote hats)
-Wine
-Warm weather
-Event planning
-Putting together event tables(displays) - I once did a "hockey" themed table for a charity dinner
- Family dynamic
-Psychology
-House decorations
-Chevron printed pillows
-Cities you can drive out of and don't always need public transportation
-Country music
-WORKING OUT
-FITNESS

So yeah, that's a long list, but I found one job that I am going to apply to tomorrow- and right now I am listening to my KATY PERRY station, and it's helping me get through this blog entry.
Also just as a last comment, I hope that I help someone else that may be in the same situation. This week I am going through a redesign for my blog, and I am hoping to get the word out more about my blog and start networking more.

My Fourth of July

Recently I visited Washington DC. The city is crazy busy, the traffic is confusing, and the place is expensive! Past almost hitting a bus while driving around with my sister, I realize that there is a certain amount of awe, and beauty to this wonderful city. Whether you are Republican or Democrat didn't matter to me when I got to stand on the grass not that far from the White House. I saw every cliche thing you can see in Washignton DC.

It made me so proud to be an American to see some of the National Monuments I had seen pictures of and read about.Walking down the rows and rows of names listed at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was the most haunting experience ever. Complete silence consumes you when seeing the loss our country faced during this time. What I thought was so amazing about this memorial is that you could look up people in a directory in order to find them on the wall, and see if they were listed.

After our long day in the city viewing all of the extravagant buildings, monuments, and memorials we went to see the Holacaust museum. It was by far the most haunting thing I've ever been to. It taught me that we should respect all different people around us.

Grace and I spent a wonderful few days with our cousin Sarah. We then hopped on over to Old Town Va. to visit my GBF from high school. Massive colonial home and cobblestone streets. Absolutely great! Loved all the boutiques.

Back in Alabama where I got to celebrate the great USA I thought of those monuments of freedom, memorials, and I remembered all my family and friends and loved ones who are still serving today.

Here are some beautiful pictures of DC and my fun weekend out in the country.

God bless the beautiful state of Alabama
Selfie saturday in the pool(i had to)

So in conclusion to my very long blog entry I would like to conclude that I am so very thankful for my long weekend that I spent with family or friends, because of the brave men and women that have sacrificed for this country.
